পলি রানী রাজশাহী প্রতিবেদক। রাজশাহী রাজশাহীতে নারী সাংবাদিকদের তৃণমূল পর্যায়ের নির্বাচন রিপোর্টিং দক্ষতা উন্নয়নে আয়োজিত তিন দিনব্যাপী বিশেষ প্রশিক্ষণ কর্মশালার সফল সমাপ্তি হয়েছে। ইউনেস্কো এবং সাউথ এশিয়া সেন্টার ফর মিডিয়া ইন ডেভেলপমেন্ট (সাকমিড)-এর যৌথ উদ্যোগে নগরীর ব্র্যাক লার্নিং সেন্টারে এই কর্মশালাটি অনুষ্ঠিত হয়।

গতকাল শনিবার সমাপনী দিনে রাজশাহী ও রংপুর বিভাগের বিভিন্ন জেলা থেকে আগত অংশগ্রহণকারী নারী সাংবাদিকদের মাঝে আনুষ্ঠানিকভাবে সনদপত্র বিতরণ করা হয়। অনুষ্ঠানে প্রধান অতিথি হিসেবে অনলাইনে যুক্ত হয়ে গুরুত্বপূর্ণ দিকনির্দেশনা দেন ইউনেস্কোর বাংলাদেশ প্রতিনিধি ড. সুজান ভাইজ। তিনি বলেন,নারী সাংবাদিকদের পেশাগত সক্ষমতা বৃদ্ধি এবং তাদের জন্য একটি নিরাপদ ও সহায়ক কর্মপরিবেশ নিশ্চিত করতে এ ধরনের উন্নত প্রশিক্ষণ অত্যন্ত জরুরি। এটি কেবল ব্যক্তিগত উন্নয়ন নয়,বরং বস্তুনিষ্ঠ সাংবাদিকতার ভিত্তি মজবুত করবে।"

বিশেষ অতিথির বক্তব্যে রাজশাহী বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের গণযোগাযোগ ও সাংবাদিকতা বিভাগের অধ্যাপক ড. মো. মোজাম্মেল হোসেইন বকুল বলেন,তৃণমূল পর্যায়ে নির্বাচন কাভারেজের ক্ষেত্রে পেশাদারিত্ব, সংবেদনশীলতা এবং দায়িত্বশীলতার কোনো বিকল্প নেই। একজন সংবাদকর্মীকে তথ্যের সত্যতা যাচাইয়ে সর্বোচ্চ সতর্ক থাকতে হবে।

প্রশিক্ষণের মূল বিষয়বস্তু: তিন দিনের এই নিবিড় কর্মশালায় অংশগ্রহণকারীরা নির্বাচন প্রক্রিয়া, আধুনিক তথ্য যাচাই (Fact-check) পদ্ধতি, ডিজিটাল নিরাপত্তা, ঝুঁকি ব্যবস্থাপনা এবং নির্বাচনকালীন রিপোর্টিংয়ের নানাবিধ কৌশল সম্পর্কে সম্যক ধারণা লাভ করেন। তাত্ত্বিক আলোচনার পাশাপাশি ইন্টারেক্টিভ সেশন,গ্রুপ ওয়ার্ক ও ব্যবহারিক অনুশীলনের মাধ্যমে তাদের বাস্তবমুখী দক্ষতা ঝালাই করে নেওয়া হয়।

Empowering Women Journalists: Training Workshop on Election Reporting Concludes in Rajshahi

RAJSHAHI: A three-day specialized training workshop aimed at enhancing the skills of women journalists in grassroots election reporting has successfully concluded. The workshop was jointly organized by UNESCO and the South Asia Center for Media in Development (SACMID) at the BRAC Learning Centre in Rajshahi.

On the concluding day, Saturday, certificates were formally distributed among the participating women journalists from various districts of the Rajshahi and Rangpur divisions.

Dr. Susan Vize, UNESCO Representative to Bangladesh, joined the event virtually as the Chief Guest. In her keynote address, she stated, "Advanced training of this nature is essential to bolster the professional capacity of women journalists and ensure a safe, supportive working environment. This is not just about personal development; it is about strengthening the very foundation of objective journalism."

As a Special Guest, Dr. Md. Mozammel Hossain Bokul, Professor of the Department of Mass Communication and Journalism at Rajshahi University, emphasized, "There is no substitute for professionalism, sensitivity, and responsibility in grassroots election coverage. A media professional must remain extremely vigilant regarding the verification of facts."

Key Training Modules: During the three-day intensive workshop, participants gained comprehensive knowledge on the election process, modern Fact-checking methods, digital security, risk management, and strategic reporting techniques during elections. The sessions were highly interactive, combining theoretical discussions with group work and practical exercises to sharpen their real-world skills.

The event also featured insights from Dr. Jannatul Jahan, Chairperson of the Department of Communication and Journalism Studies at North Bengal International University. Also in attendance were Abu Sufian, Program Officer at SACMID; Ali Hasher Al Amin, Program Assistant and Fellow; Shakil M. Faisal, Project Lead of the UN Ballot Project; Rakibul Islam, UNESCO Consultant; Mostafiz Gani, Lecturer at Varendra University; and Qadaruddin Shishir, Founder of The Descent.

The organizers expressed their optimism that the knowledge gained from this training will empower women journalists to play a more courageous, data-driven, and leading role in modern professional journalism.
